Africa’s leading sports broadcaster, SuperSport, has unveiled plans to air all 104 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup live on DStv and GOtv, in what it describes as the most accessible tournament for viewers across the continent.

Africa’s leading sports broadcaster, SuperSport, has unveiled plans to air all 104 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup live on DStv and GOtv, in what it describes as the most accessible tournament for viewers across the continent.

The announcement was made at a media briefing moderated by Sibusiso Mjikeliso, where SuperSport Chief Executive Officer, Rendani Ramovha, outlined the broadcaster’s strategy for the expanded global showpiece.

The tournament, to be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026, will feature 48 teams for the first time.

Ramovha said the competition represents a defining moment for African football, with a record 10 countries set to participate-Ghana, South Africa, Senegal, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and DR Congo.

“We have built our FIFA World Cup coverage around four key pillars: unmatched scale, unprecedented accessibility, championing African pride and participation, and making a clear statement for Africa on the global stage,” he said.

For the first time, all matches will be available across subscription tiers, significantly widening access for viewers across the continent.

SuperSport also announced that four dedicated World Cup channels will be launched, with coverage in English and Portuguese, alongside broadcasts in seven languages across Africa.

The offering will include an expanded lineup of preview shows, live match coverage, studio analysis and special features designed to enhance the viewing experience.

“We are also looking forward to bringing our subscribers special broadcast features tailored to unique cultures and some local African languages,” Ramovha added.

The broadcaster confirmed that its campaign for the tournament will run under the theme, “Everything Else Can Wait,” reflecting the scale and significance of the global football spectacle.

As part of the build-up, SuperSport recently launched the campaign with a surprise on-air appearance by Idris Elba, who announced that all 104 matches would be available live on DStv and GOtv. More celebrity appearances, studio guests and strategic partnerships are expected ahead of the tournament.

With Africa sending its largest-ever contingent to the World Cup and access expanded across multiple markets, SuperSport said it is preparing to deliver one of the most ambitious football broadcasts in its history.
