Nigerian professional wrestler Oba Femi pulled off a stunning upset on Sunday, defeating 10-time WWE Champion Brock Lesnar in under five minutes on his WrestleMania debut.
The explosive clash at WrestleMania 42 ended dramatically, with the 27-year-old overpowering the veteran in one of the night’s biggest talking points.
Lesnar, a dominant force in WWE for years, left his wrestling gear in the ring after the defeat — a symbolic gesture widely interpreted as a sign of retirement.
Femi, nicknamed “The Ruler,” has spent just three months on WWE’s main roster but showed no signs of inexperience as he matched Lesnar’s strength from the opening bell.
The contest started cautiously, with both men testing each other’s power before Lesnar briefly took control with a series of heavy attacks.
However, the Nigerian star absorbed the pressure and turned the tide, delivering a chokeslam after surviving an F5 from Lesnar.
He sealed the victory with his signature “Fall From Grace” sit-out powerbomb to secure a decisive pinfall.
The bout immediately sparked reactions across social media, with fans hailing the shocking result.
Femi, a former shot put athlete, is a two-time NXT Champion and a one-time NXT North American Champion. Born in Lagos, he began his athletic career in track and field before joining WWE in 2021 through its NIL programme.
He later won the 2023 NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament and the 2024 Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge.
