Kompany turns down World Cup TV role, chooses family time over punditry

Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany has rejected offers to work as a TV pundit during the upcoming World Cup. He said he prefers to rest and spend time with his family instead.

Some English TV stations were interested in getting Kompany to appear on their shows during the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

This is because he has good knowledge of players like Harry Kane, who he coaches at Bayern.

However, Kompany strongly refused the idea.

He said, “No chance,” when asked about the reports. He added that working as a pundit during his holiday would mean he would not have enough time for his family in Munich.

He also joked that taking the job would cause problems at home, which made people at the press conference laugh.

Kompany has worked as a pundit before, but after a busy football season, he wants a break.

Bayern Munich recently won their 35th Bundesliga title and are now focused on the German Cup semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen. If they win, they will reach their first final since 2020.

The team will be without some injured players, including Serge Gnabry, Lennart Karl, and Tom Bischof.

Attention is now on Jamal Musiala, who is returning to full fitness after injury. Kompany says he is improving and close to his best form.

Bayern will also face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-final later this month, where Musiala is expected to play an important role.
