Former Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-Makura, has criticised Governor Abdullahi Sule for presenting Aliyu Wadada as his preferred successor to President Bola Tinubu, calling the move premature and a violation of due process.

Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television, Al-Makura expressed concerns over the lack of guidelines from the All Progressives Congress (APC) for selecting governorship candidates, saying Sule’s action was hasty.

“At this stage, when the party has yet to release its selection guidelines, it’s a little too hasty. This is a violation of the process, especially when there has been no proper consultation with key stakeholders,” Al-Makura stated.

Governor Sule had endorsed Wadada, who represents Nasarawa West in the Senate, after consultations within the state and beyond. He took Wadada to Abuja for a meeting with President Tinubu, where he reiterated his choice for the 2027 governorship election.

However, Al-Makura insists that while Sule has the right to back a candidate, it must follow the appropriate process to ensure fairness and inclusivity.
