Rashford seals Barcelona’s victory over Getafe

Barcelona strengthened their grip on a second consecutive La Liga title with a 2-0 victory over Getafe at the Estadio Coliseum, extending their lead to 11 points over rivals Real Madrid.

With both teams having just five games left, Barcelona’s 29th title is now within reach.

The match was decided by goals from Fermin López and Marcus Rashford. López opened the scoring just before half-time, receiving a perfectly timed pass from Pedri and slotting the ball past Getafe’s goalkeeper.

Despite missing star Lamine Yamal, whose season ended prematurely due to a hamstring injury, Barcelona continued to look dangerous. Rashford, starting on the bench, came on in the 60th minute to replace Roony Bardghji and quickly made an impact.

In the 74th minute, a brilliant ball from Robert Lewandowski sent Rashford racing through on goal. The England international showed great composure to finish past Getafe’s David Soria, sealing the victory for Barcelona.

Getafe, who are still vying for a European spot, pressed for an equaliser in the second half but couldn’t break down Barcelona’s defense. With this win, Barcelona now look set to lift another La Liga title, as they capitalise on Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw with Real Betis the previous night.
