U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that the planned visit of King Charles III to Washington, D.C., will proceed as scheduled, despite the security scare at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Speaking in an interview with Fox News, Trump dismissed suggestions that the attack would disrupt diplomatic engagements, indicating that preparations for the visit remain intact.
Responding to questions about possible changes, the president said: “Yeah, that’s a good question. You’ve got a lot of little points in there. You’re doing a weave on me like I do all the time. That’s a big question.”
Trump went on to express admiration for the British monarch, describing him as a longstanding friend and a respected global figure.
“First of all, King Charles is coming, and he’s a great guy. We look forward to it. He’s really a fantastic person. And a tremendous representative. And he’s brave,” he said.
The president also referenced the King’s ongoing health challenges, commending his resilience.
“He’s got a problem with, as you know, very well documented problem with his health, and he’s been amazing. Actually, he’s very brave actually,” Trump added.
Highlighting their personal relationship, Trump said: “And he’s a friend of mine for a long time. So, he’s coming, and we’re going to have a great time. And he represents his nation like nobody else can do it.”
