The Kano State House of Assembly has confirmed Murtala Sule Garo as the new Deputy Governor of the state.

Lawmakers approved his appointment after screening him during a plenary session led by the Speaker, Jibril Isma’il Falgore.

The Chairman of the ad hoc committee and Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Bello, presented the committee’s report.

He explained that Garo was nominated following the resignation of the former Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.

He added that the screening followed Section 191(3)(c) of the 1999 Constitution, which allows the Assembly to confirm a nominee when there is a vacancy.

During the screening, Garo answered questions about his education, work experience, knowledge of governance, and his plans for Kano State. His credentials were also checked.

The committee said he demonstrated a good understanding of the role and shared ideas on how to support Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration.

Based on this, the committee recommended his confirmation, and the Assembly agreed by adopting the report.
