Nigerian singer Skales has revealed he missed out on a $300,000 luxury jewelry deal tied to a young football star, shedding light on the lucrative off-field earnings footballers enjoy.

Skales, in a recent interview, discussed how footballers, even without global fame, consistently earn more than musicians.

He stated that unlike music, which he described as unpredictable and seasonal, football offers financial stability through consistent performance. “You don’t have to be globally famous to make serious money. You can just be a regular guy… they no dey bench you, and you go dey make money,” Skales said.

The singer also emphasized that, in contrast to music, which requires long-term relevance that feels like a “divine thing,” football provides steady earnings without the same level of fame. He revealed that footballers earn significant off-field money, highlighting the missed jewelry deal involving a young footballer that could have been worth over $300,000.

Skales wrapped up by pointing out that only a few Nigerian musicians ever reach such wealth, with many still struggling to make ends meet in the industry.
