President Bola Tinubu has urged Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, the new deputy governor of Kano State to work assiduously alongside the governor to provide the leadership needed to accelerate the state’s development.
President Tinubu said this in a congratulatory message to Garo on Tuesday following his swearing in.
Governor Yusuf had nominated Garo to fill the vacant position created by the departure of Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam, who resigned in the aftermath of the governor’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The 48-year-old politician had served in various positions, including Chairman of Kabo Local Government and as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under the erstwhile administration of Dr Abdullahi Ganduje.
He was also the APC governorship running mate during the 2023 election.
In the congratulatory message signed by Bayo Onanuga, his spokesperson, President Tinubu commended Governor Yusuf for the appointment, which, according to him, had solidified the much-needed unity within the ranks of the APC in Kano State.
The President also urged all stakeholders to unite behind the governor and his deputy, providing them with full support and cooperation.
“President Tinubu wished Mr Garo well in the new responsibility,” the statement concluded.
