Nigerian rapper and singer Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, spoken up on the reason behind his move from making rap music to singing.
The 26-year-old singer, while speaking on the Afrobeats Intelligence podcast, revealed that he embraced Amapiano for financial reasons. Shallipopi explained that although rapping was what made him initially fall in love with the music industry, making Amapiano gives him more money.
The rapper also noted that his move was also the reason why he rejected the Headies award for Best Rap Song, stating that the organisers tried to label him as just a rapper.
“I have been rapping for a while. I am a trap star. They made me do Amapiano. It is Amapiano that bring food to the table, so we will do it. I will drag it with them,” he said.
