The Lagos State Government has sealed Dominion Pizza over alleged environmental violations involving the discharge of untreated sewage into public drainage channels in Lekki.

The enforcement action was carried out by the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) following complaints from a concerned resident and subsequent investigations by environmental officials.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed that investigations revealed that untreated wastewater from the restaurant’s septic chamber was allegedly being discharged indiscriminately into the environment and surrounding drains due to an overfilled septic tank.

According to the state government, the situation created environmental nuisance, offensive odour and potential health risks to residents and members of the public within the area.

Wahab , in a statement on X on Tuesday, stated that the action forms part of the Lagos State Government’s ongoing environmental enforcement drive aimed at improving sanitation standards and ensuring compliance with wastewater management regulations across the state.

He reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance stance against environmental infractions, warning that individuals and organisations found violating sanitation and environmental laws would face sanctions and possible prosecution.

The Commissioner also urged residents, businesses and property owners to adopt proper wastewater disposal and environmental management practices in order to protect public health and the environment.

The Lagos State Government has in recent months intensified enforcement against environmental offenders, including illegal waste dumpers, polluters and property owners accused of violating sanitation regulations, as part of broader efforts to maintain a cleaner and healthier environment across the state.

Residents were also encouraged to report environmental infractions through the official complaint channels provided by the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office.
