Nollywood actress Shine Rosman has cried out over the alarming increase of sexual harassment in the country. The actress, while speaking during an interview with Tolu Afilaka, claimed that sexual harassment has become normalised and inconsequential in certain parts of the country.
Shine spoke against the undocumented cases of harassment that occurs in crowded marketplaces, stating that it is an issue no one pays attention to or speaks about. She also questioned the safety of women in the country, stating that worse things can happen to them in private spaces.
”Do you know how bad sexual harassment is in Lagos. Like go to Yaba, as a girl and see how you will be touched inappropriately. Everybody hearing this knows that it is true. But till today, nothing is being done about it. You’re walking in Yaba and people are touching you inappropriately and nothing will happen. If the government is not going to do anything, is not not ok for us to defend ourselves?. In 2026, in a country like Nigeria, sexual harassment us still one of the most passive things. If a man can sexually harass you, casually, during the day, what do you think he can do behind closed doors when no one is looking?,” she questioned.
