Kogi East Youths Warn Gov. Ododo Against Alleged ‘Third-Term Agenda’
Youth stakeholders in Kogi East have urged Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo not to support any alleged third-term agenda reportedly being promoted by the senator representing the district, warning that backing unpopular political interests could hurt the ruling party’s chances in the region.
Speaking during a stakeholders’ gathering in Anyigba, Kogi State, the President of Kogi East Youth Stakeholders, Ahmed Labaran, said recycling politicians who are inaccessible and disconnected from the people would create setbacks for the party.
According to him, leaders who are not grassroots-oriented should not be imposed on the people.
Labaran also advised Governor Ododo not to allow individuals outside Kogi State to influence the political direction of the state, insisting that the only acceptable democratic process is one that allows party members and the electorate to freely choose their preferred candidates through transparent and credible primary elections.
The stakeholders maintained that loyal party members who have consistently contributed to the growth and activities of the party over the years should be given the opportunity to contest elective positions, rather than imposing “total strangers” on the people.
Also speaking at the gathering, Okeme Muhammad, leader of the FAWWAS FOR MEN Organisation, supported the group’s position, stressing that leadership positions should be entrusted to committed and dedicated party members who understand the aspirations of the people and have remained loyal to the party structure.
The stakeholders further warned that any attempt to impose unpopular candidates or undermine internal democracy could jeopardize the chances of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi East.
The remarks were made during the stakeholders’ meeting held in Anyigba, Kogi State.
