Pop star Britney Spears’ representatives have dismissed reports that she was “erratic” at a Sherman Oaks restaurant on Wednesday, May 13, allegedly wielding a knife.
According to reports, Spears’ rep said the claims were “completely blown out of proportion”, explaining that Spears was simply enjoying a quiet dinner with her assistant and bodyguard. “She was cutting her hamburger in half and telling a story about her dog barking at the neighbours. At no point did she put anyone in danger,” the statement read.
The reports surfaced after TMZ cited sources alleging Spears screamed and “barked” while walking past another table holding a knife. Entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider described the scene on X as a “WILD experience”, with one diner reportedly fearing for their safety.
Spears, 44, recently spoke on Instagram about being on a “spiritual journey”, sharing a post of herself with a baby snake and reflecting on personal growth. “I’m so damn thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey … all a blessing in disguise,” she wrote.
The incident comes shortly after Spears pled guilty to a wet reckless following her March DUI arrest in Ventura, California.
Her attorney, Michael A. Goldstein, confirmed that Spears has taken responsibility, receiving 12 months’ probation, one day in jail (credited as time served), a $571 fine, and participation in a DUI program, as well as regular psychological evaluations.
Spears’ team emphasised the singer’s commitment to positive change: “We hope Britney can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time,” her rep said.
