MY Lab Africa, the authorized distributor of leading Korean skincare brands including Anua and TIAM in Nigeria and West Africa, recently visited The Destitute Home in Okobaba, Lagos as part of her Care Beyond Beauty community outreach initiative, created in recognition of Skin Cancer Awareness Month and Mental Health Awareness Month.

The outreach focused on wellness education, skincare awareness, emotional well-being, and the distribution of relief materials to community members. Through interactive conversations held in both English, Pidgin English, and Hausa, the MY Lab Africa team engaged women and families across different age groups on the importance of simple self-care practices, skin protection, hydration, cleanliness, rest, and mental well-being.

What began as a wellness outreach quickly evolved into a deeply human and emotional exchange, as members of the community openly shared their experiences and actively participated in conversations around emotional wellness and self-care.

Speaking during the outreach, Martha “Omar” Ogali, Marketing Manager at MY Lab Africa, emphasized the importance of making wellness education feel accessible and relatable, especially within underserved communities.

Ogali also noted that the session intentionally focused on practical and accessible skincare habits, ensuring that conversations around skin health and wellness remained realistic and inclusive within the current economic climate.

Despite a heavy downpour during the outreach, the atmosphere remained cool, interactive, and welcoming, with members of the community happily participating in conversations and even singing in appreciation during the visit.

Patricia Lakpah, HR Manager at MY Lab Africa, shares how this initiative is part of the company’s growing focus on community-centered initiatives. With support from the company’s founder, Mariam Mohammed Macaulay, MY Lab Africa aims to execute more seasonal outreaches.

As Korean skincare continues to grow across Nigeria and West Africa, MY Lab Africa remains committed not only to product accessibility, but also to building conversations around wellness, confidence, education, and care within African communities.
