Ebola is a severe viral illness transmitted through direct contact with infected bodily fluids or contaminated materials. Common symptoms include:
Fever
Headache
Weakness
Muscle pain
Vomiting
Diarrhoea
In severe cases, unexplained bleeding
The NCDC further outlined ongoing interventions, including:
Enhanced surveillance and monitoring at ports of entry and health facilities nationwide
Laboratory readiness for rapid detection of suspected cases
Public awareness campaigns to inform Nigerians about preventive measures
Officials advised citizens to remain calm, practice good hand hygiene, avoid unverified reports on social media, and promptly report any unusual illnesses to local health authorities.
