The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Osun State, has officially concluded the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Course with a low-key closing ceremony held on Monday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede.

Addressing Corps Members during the Ceremony, the State Coordinator, Mr. Ekeng Kubiangha, congratulated them on the successful completion of the three-week Orientation Exercise and commended their discipline, resilience, cooperation, and active participation throughout the programme.

Kubiangha stated that the Orientation Course was deliberately designed to prepare Corps Members mentally, physically, and emotionally for the demands of national service and nation-building.

According to him, activities such as paramilitary drills, leadership training, security awareness lectures, citizenship and civic education, as well as the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, were carefully structured to equip participants with practical knowledge and relevant life skills.

Kubiangha urged the Corps Members to settle quickly into their various Places of Primary Assignment (PPA) and discharge their responsibilities diligently, responsibly, and professionally.

He emphasised the importance of punctuality, dedication to duty, respect for constituted authority, and commitment to excellence, noting that the conduct of corps members contributes significantly to the public image and integrity of the NYSC Scheme.

The State Coordinator also encouraged active participation in Community Development Service (CDS), describing it as one of the core programmes of the Scheme through which corps members can identify and address pressing needs within their host communities through impactful projects and initiatives.

He further advised them not to abandon the SAED programme after camp, but to take advantage of post-camp training and entrepreneurial opportunities available across their various local government areas.

Kubiangha reiterated that the programme was established to promote self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and job creation among Nigerian youths, especially in the face of prevailing economic realities.

Speaking on the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Osun State, the Kubiangha reminded corps members of their expected role as ad-hoc electoral personnel and charged them to remain neutral, professional, and law-abiding at all times.

He warned against involvement in partisan politics or any activity capable of compromising their safety and the integrity of the electoral process.

The coordinator also cautioned corps members on the use of social media, warning against the spread of fake news, inflammatory content, and unguarded posts capable of bringing the NYSC Scheme into disrepute.

He advised them to remain security conscious, avoid unauthorised journeys, respect the customs and traditions of their host communities, and maintain proper communication with NYSC officials in their places of deployment.

In a notable development during the Ceremony, members of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Broadcasting Service (OBS) donated a newly fabricated metal door to the OBS studio at the Orientation Camp as part of their contribution towards improving facilities within the Camp environment.

The ceremony also featured the presentation of awards to outstanding personnel and collaborators in recognition of their contributions to the success of the orientation exercise.

Award recipients included ASP Oluwaseun Deborah, who emerged as Best Collaborating Agency Representative; Staff Sergeant Bukar Mallam as Best Collaborating Camp Officer; and James Augustine as Best Camp Official (Non-Staff).

Among NYSC staff members honoured were Mr. Waheed Ajayi, Deputy Camp Director; Miss Akinsanmi Kikelomo, Head of ICT; and Mrs. Catherine Otemuyiwa, Head of Information and Public Relations Unit (IPRU).

The State Coordinator thereafter formally declared the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Course closed on behalf of the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General O. O Nafiu, while wishing corps members safe journeys to their various Places of Primary Assignment and a fulfilling service year ahead.
