Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for Kogi Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Her emergence was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by her Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mike Idoko.
Idoko said party members and supporters took part in the affirmation exercise conducted across the 57 wards in the senatorial district.
According to him, the exercise was held simultaneously in all the wards before the final collation of results at Kahal Cinema in Okene, where party leaders, stakeholders and supporters gathered.
He added that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, monitored the exercise alongside members of the media to ensure transparency and compliance with due process.
Speaking after the collation, Akpoti-Uduaghan thanked PDP members and supporters for what she described as an overwhelming show of confidence and unity.
“This affirmation is a reflection of the trust and confidence the people of Kogi Central have continued to place in our collective vision for progress, inclusion and development,” she said.
The senator said the turnout across the district showed the commitment of party members to strengthening democratic participation.
“I am deeply humbled by the massive turnout across all 57 wards. This is not just about one individual; it is about our people coming together in unity to deepen democracy and build a stronger and more prosperous Kogi Central,” she said.
Akpoti-Uduaghan also assured her supporters that she would remain committed to protecting the interests of the district and engaging closely with communities across Kogi Central.
“I accept this responsibility with gratitude and renewed commitment. By the grace of God and with the continued support of our people, we will remain focused on delivering sustainable development, justice and opportunities for everyone,” she added.
