‘I’m very satisfied’ – Tinubu hails APC Primaries, praises governors

President Bola Tinubu on Saturday hailed the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential primary election across the country as a strong demonstration of internal democracy, expressing satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise by governors and party officials.

Speaking with journalists after casting his vote during the APC Presidential Primary Election in Ikoyi, Lagos, the President said the process reflected true grassroots politics where every member of the party had the opportunity to participate.

According to Tinubu, the primary elections were being conducted in an orderly and peaceful manner in line with democratic principles.

“This is a demonstration of internal democracy and it has been going very well according to plan. This is politics, grassroots politics where every member of the party has a right to participate and be involved,” he said.

“This is to ensure that we have internal democracy and it’s peaceful and well organised,” he added.

The President also commended APC governors for overseeing what he described as acceptable and credible congresses and electoral processes across their states.

Responding to questions on whether he was satisfied with the process nationwide, Tinubu said the governors had performed creditably from the ward level up to the local government congresses.

“I’m very satisfied, very, very satisfied that these governors have done well in their various states so far, from ward congresses to local government congresses, to delegate accreditation, validation of members register and the certification of the electoral process. It has been all very well,” he stated.

“At least, you will score democracy at a high level.”

Tinubu, who was received by enthusiastic supporters at the polling venue, also reacted to the massive show of support from party loyalists and residents.

“I’m just excited, they challenge me more,” the President said.
