President Bola Tinubu recorded a landslide victory on Saturday in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election at his Ward L2 in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, polling 4,996 votes.

Tinubu emerged overwhelmingly ahead in the exercise conducted at Ireti Nursery and Primary School, Mekwen Street, Off Queens Drive, Ikoyi, where party members gathered in large numbers to participate in the direct primary.

The APC presidential ticket for the 2027 election is being contested by the incumbent President and businessman Sterlyn Osifo, prompting the party to conduct direct primaries to determine its flagbearer.

The exercise, which commenced as early as 8 a.m. under heavy security presence, witnessed a massive turnout of party faithful and supporters who thronged the venue in a show of solidarity for the President.

Among prominent party leaders present at the venue were Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance Wale Edun; APC Lagos State Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, and party chieftain Kola Peregrino.

President Tinubu arrived at the polling venue around 11:35 a.m. shortly after the accreditation of voters had been concluded.

Addressing party supporters before voting commenced, Ojelabi commended members for the orderly conduct of the exercise, describing the process as peaceful and seamless.

“The rewards of your loyalty to the party will yield proceeds in due course. Thank you for the wonderful support for our President and the APC,” he said.

“Today, we are here to re-elect the candidate of your choice. Let Nigerians know that APC is the best party in Nigeria.”

At the conclusion of the exercise, the ward returning officer, Martha Adikwu, announced that Tinubu secured 4,996 votes out of a total of 5,163 registered voters in the ward.
