Great Ogboru clinches ADC Governorship ticket in massive Delta Primary victory

Renowned businessman and politician, Great Ogboru, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Delta State after recording a decisive victory in the party’s primary election.

Ogboru secured 38,151 votes to defeat his only challenger, Dr. Emmanuel Unuafe, who polled 1,182 votes in the exercise conducted across the 25 local government areas of the state.

The primary election, which also covered contests for the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate seats, was held amid tight security and active participation by party delegates and members.

Announcing the results at the ADC state secretariat in Asaba on Monday, Chairman of the party’s Primary Election Committee, Prof. Sambo Williams, described the exercise as peaceful, transparent and orderly.

Williams commended party members, delegates and aspirants for their conduct during the exercise, noting that the process reflected the party’s commitment to internal democracy and fairness.

According to him, all aspirants were given equal opportunity to participate in the primaries in line with the ADC constitution and electoral guidelines.

“The conduct of the primaries demonstrates our commitment to transparency, fairness and internal democracy,” he stated.

Williams added that the successful completion of the exercise showed that the party remained united and well-positioned for the 2027 governorship election in Delta State.

He urged all aspirants and their supporters to put aside differences and work collectively for the growth and success of the party ahead of the general elections.

“The interest of the party is greater than individual ambitions. We must all work together to ensure victory for the ADC in the forthcoming elections,” he said.

The committee chairman also commended security agencies, election officials, delegates and party faithful for ensuring the peaceful conduct of the primaries across the state.

Following the announcement of the results, supporters of Great Ogboru erupted in celebration at the party secretariat, expressing confidence that his emergence would strengthen the ADC’s chances in the 2027 governorship race.

Party supporters described Ogboru as a formidable political figure with strong grassroots appeal and the capacity to reposition the ADC as a major force in Delta politics ahead of the elections.
