The Kogi chapter of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, has expressed sadness over the killing of nine pastoralists in Anpka Local Government of the state.
The incident allegedly happened last Thursday.
The association in a statement signed by its State Secretary, Suleimanl Abubakar, and released to journalists in Lokoja on Monday condemned the killings.
He said the attack claimed 9 lives while 3 others were injured.
The statement sued for peace, cautioned against retaliation, and emphasised that every Nigerian is entitled to protection in all parts of the country.
“We condemn this barbaric act in the strongest terms and call on security agencies to immediately investigate the incident, arrest the perpetrators, and ensure that justice is served.
“The continued targeting and killing of innocent pastoral communities is dangerous, unacceptable, and capable of worsening tensions among peaceful communities.
“MACBAN extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed and prays for the speedy recovery of the injured persons. We also call on government at all levels, humanitarian organizations, and relevant authorities to urgently provide relief and medical assistance to the affected families.
“We urge members of the pastoralist community and all residents of the area to remain calm and law-abiding while allowing security agencies to carry out their responsibilities.
“The sanctity of human life must be protected at all times regardless of ethnic background, religion, or occupation. Nigeria belongs to all citizens, and every Nigerian deserves equal protection under the law.”
