Nigerian reality TV star, Kiddwaya has spoken on his father’s personality ad influence in the practice of democracy in Nigeria.
While speaking during an interview, the BBNaija star revealed that he recently became aware of his father’s involvement in the recognition of Banana Island.
Kiddwaya also stressed that despite his father’s achievements, he does not boast about them, adding that he only speaks about his deeds when asked.
“Banana Island is the most expensive, luxurious piece of land in Africa. It’s quite small, on the island in Lagos, I never knew he discovered it until he made that statement on BBC. My dad is very like that. He doesn’t blow his own trumpet. When you ask him, he will tell you. And I have another fascinating story that I just found out. He hasn’t told anybody. I didn’t know that my dad was one of the reasons that Nigeria had a democracy. He was very close with the Army back in the day when we had military rule,” he stated.
While highlighting the practice of democracy in the country, Kiddwaya also explained that his father influenced a former military leader to adopt the system of government in the country.
”When Sani Abacha died, my dad’s close friend was the second in command, so his friend became president. So he came to the house, I wasn’t born then, he came to the house and said look, Terry, I’m president now, I don’t really know what to do, what should we do. And he said, give it to democracy. Like make it a democracy so the people can vote. When he told me that, I was like, dad you should tell people this. He is one of the reasons Nigeria has a democracy…” he added.
