Quick Read

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) will hold its presidential and governorship primary elections on Thursday, May 28, in Ibadan.

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) will hold its presidential and governorship primary elections on Thursday, May 28, in Ibadan.

The event will take place at Watershed Event Centre, Old Ife Road, Ibadan, starting from 2 p.m.

Governor Seyi Makinde is currently the only person who has shown interest in the party’s presidential ticket.

For the governorship ticket, Bimbo Adekanmbi, believed to be Makinde’s preferred successor, is the only known aspirant.

The event will also present the party’s candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Most of the candidates joining the APM are members of the faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to Governor Makinde.

This follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Makinde’s PDP faction and the national leadership of the APM, allowing the governor’s supporters to contest elections on the APM platform.

Recently, the Oyo State chapter of the APM held its state congress in Ibadan, where Otunba Fagbemi Adegbenro was re-elected as state chairman along with other party executives.

The congress, held at UMC Primary School in Molete, Ibadan, inaugurated new state and senatorial executives as the party prepares for the 2027 elections.

Political activities and alliances have continued to grow in Oyo State, with the APM becoming the preferred platform for Governor Makinde and several political office holders in the state.
