The Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) has extended Eid-el-Kabir greetings to Muslim faithful and residents of Lagos State, while urging communities to strengthen HIV prevention efforts and promote compassion, unity, and a stigma-free society.

The Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) has extended Eid-el-Kabir greetings to Muslim faithful and residents of Lagos State, while urging communities to strengthen HIV prevention efforts and promote compassion, unity, and a stigma-free society.

In a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Agency, the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Folakemi Animashaun congratulated Muslims on the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir and encouraged residents to reflect on the enduring values of sacrifice, love, and care for one another that define the season.

Dr. Animashaun noted that beyond the celebrations, the Eid period presents an opportunity to reinforce awareness on critical health issues, particularly HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and the importance of supporting individuals and families affected by HIV without discrimination or stigma.

She emphasized that HIV remains a public health concern that requires sustained community engagement and collective action.

According to her, creating an environment where individuals can freely access HIV information and healthcare services without fear of judgment remains essential to achieving better health outcomes across the state.

The Chief Executive Officer urged residents to take proactive steps toward protecting their health by adopting responsible lifestyles, knowing their HIV status through regular testing, and encouraging friends and loved ones to seek accurate information and healthcare support when necessary.

“Eid-el-Kabir reminds us of the importance of kindness, empathy, and shared humanity. As we celebrate with family and loved ones, let us also remember our collective responsibility to support one another, reject stigma and discrimination, and promote healthier communities,” she said.

Dr. Animashaun reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Government, through LSACA, to intensify HIV awareness initiatives and strengthen access to prevention, treatment, and care services across communities.

She also called on religious leaders, community stakeholders, families, and residents to continue partnering with LSACA in advancing awareness campaigns and promoting inclusive attitudes that uphold dignity and equal opportunities for persons living with HIV.

She however wished Muslim faithful and all residents a peaceful, joyful, and healthy Eid-el-Kabir celebration, while encouraging everyone to celebrate responsibly and contribute to the vision of an HIV-free and stigma-free Lagos.
