Lopez then added: “I should have done it sooner. I’ve been doing it all wrong. I’ve been doing it all wrong, trust me.”
American singer and actress Jennifer Lopez has appeared to aim a subtle dig at her former husband, Ben Affleck, after opening up about her new life as a single woman.
The 56-year-old superstar made the remark during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! while promoting her upcoming Netflix romantic comedy, Office Romance.
During the interview, host Jimmy Kimmel asked Lopez if she was currently single.
“I am,” she replied with a smile, drawing loud cheers from the audience.
Lopez then added: “I should have done it sooner. I’ve been doing it all wrong. I’ve been doing it all wrong, trust me.”
The comment quickly drew attention because of her high-profile split from Affleck, whom she married in 2022 before filing for divorce on their second wedding anniversary.
Their divorce was finalised in February last year.
When Kimmel jokingly asked if she would consider becoming the next Bachelorette, Lopez immediately shut down the idea.
“No,” she said. “Are you crazy? I’m not doing anything to ruin how I feel right now.”
The singer described single life as “fantastic,” adding that she may still find love again someday — but only if the person is “good enough.”
“I’ll find somebody somewhere one day if they’re good enough,” she said.
Lopez has been on a busy promotional run ahead of the release of Office Romance, which is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on June 5.
The film stars Lopez alongside Brett Goldstein, Betty Gilpin, Edward James Olmos, Amy Sedaris and Tony Hale.
In the movie, Lopez plays Jackie, the president and CEO of Air Cruz, who runs her company with a strict anti-fraternisation policy until a new lawyer joins the organisation and tests the rules.
Lopez recently praised Goldstein, saying they had strong chemistry while filming.
“We had great chemistry to begin with. It just grew as we did the film together,” she said.
She also described him as kind, gentle, smart and charming, adding that he was different from the rough character many fans know him for in Ted Lasso.
Reports had earlier claimed that Lopez and Goldstein’s chemistry on set was “electric,” with insiders suggesting that the project came at the right time for the singer after her split from Affleck.
Lopez had also previously described Goldstein as the best onscreen kisser she had worked with, while the actor recently returned the compliment by rating her kissing skills “12 out of 10.”
Meanwhile, Lopez and Affleck have continued to deal with the aftermath of their separation, including the sale of their former marital mansion.
The former couple bought the property in 2023 for more than $60 million, but the house has reportedly gone through several price cuts since being listed for sale.
Lopez has since moved into a new Hidden Hills home, even as she prepares for another emotional chapter, with her 18-year-old twins, Max and Emme, set to leave home for college.
