Kano 2027: Kwankwaso backs Gwarzo for governor, Gawuna for Senate

Kano politics took a major turn on Thursday as former governor and Kwankwasiyya leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, endorsed Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo as the NDC governorship candidate for the forthcoming election.
Kwankwaso also announced that Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna will contest for the Kano Central Senatorial seat.
The endorsement was contained in a statement in which Kwankwaso said the decision was taken in the spirit of equity, fairness, loyalty and competence.
According to him, the values remain central to the progress and unity of the party and the Kwankwasiyya movement.
“Alhamdulillah! I am delighted to announce that His Excellency, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo has been selected as our Kano NDC Gubernatorial Candidate for the upcoming elections,” he said.
“Similarly, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna will contest for the Kano Central Senatorial Seat.”
Kwankwaso said the party would proceed with its affirmation exercise, praying for a peaceful and successful process.
He added: “May Almighty Allah grant us resounding victory in the forthcoming elections.”
