Tom Holland has hinted that he is already thinking about life after Spider-Man, saying he would be fulfilled if he eventually helped introduce the next actor to take over the iconic superhero role.

The 29-year-old actor, who first appeared as Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War in 2016, has now spent about a decade playing the Marvel character.

Holland later led three Spider-Man films, including Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: No Way Home. He is also set to return in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

But ahead of the new film, Holland told Empire that he has started thinking about the future of the franchise and how his own chapter as Spider-Man may one day end.

According to him, he would love to be part of setting up whoever comes next, whether that is Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Woman, or another version of the character.

Holland said he does not know what that future will look like, but added that he would be happy if he could play the same guiding role Robert Downey Jr. played for him when he entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Downey, who played Tony Stark, served as a mentor figure to Holland’s Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

“If I could do what Downey did for me, then I would be so content swinging off into the sunset,” Holland said.

His comment has sparked fresh attention because he is now the third actor to play Peter Parker on the big screen after Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

Both Maguire and Garfield returned alongside Holland in Spider-Man: No Way Home, one of Marvel’s biggest crossover moments.

Holland’s next outing, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is expected to continue from the emotional events of No Way Home, where Peter Parker was left in a world where his loved ones no longer remember him.

The new film is scheduled to hit cinemas on July 31.

Holland will also appear in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which opens earlier in July.
