Nigeria’s Super Eagles were crowned Unity Cup champions for a record fourth time after a dominant 3-0 victory over Jamaica in the final.
The Eagles delivered a composed and clinical performance to overcome the Reggae Boyz, delighting Nigerian supporters and underlining their credentials ahead of future international assignments.
Nigeria took the lead in the first half through Alhassan Yusuf, whose goal gave the Super Eagles a deserved advantage after an energetic start to the contest. The midfielder’s strike rewarded Nigeria’s early dominance and put Jamaica on the back foot.
The West Africans continued to control proceedings after the break and doubled their lead in the 59th minute when Terem Moffi found the net. The striker capitalised on Nigeria’s sustained pressure to move the Super Eagles within touching distance of the trophy.
Jamaica attempted to fight their way back into the game, but Nigeria’s defence remained resolute, limiting the Caribbean side’s opportunities and maintaining control of the final.
The victory was sealed in dramatic fashion in the closing moments when Phillip Otele combined brilliantly with Alhassan Yusuf before firing home Nigeria’s third goal in the 90th minute to cap a memorable evening for the Super Eagles.
The convincing triumph ensured Nigeria finished the tournament unbeaten and extended their dominance in the Unity Cup, adding another trophy to the nation’s rich football history.
Beyond the silverware, the final provided further evidence of the growing depth within the Super Eagles squad, with Yusuf, Moffi and Otele all playing pivotal roles in the emphatic victory.
The result will boost confidence within the camp as Nigeria continues preparations for upcoming international competitions, while also giving supporters fresh optimism about the team’s future prospects.
