The report also addressed visible health concerns that had drawn public attention in recent months, including bruises on Trump’s hands and swelling in his lower legs.

The White House has released the result of President Donald Trump’s latest medical examination, declaring him fit to continue in office amid growing questions over his health.

Trump, 79, underwent the check-up at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Tuesday, but the delayed release of the report had fuelled fresh speculation in Washington.

In a memo released late Friday, White House physician, Captain Sean P. Barbabella, said the President “remains in excellent health” and continues to show strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological and overall physical function.

Barbabella said Trump was “fully fit” to perform the duties of Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.

The report also addressed visible health concerns that had drawn public attention in recent months, including bruises on Trump’s hands and swelling in his lower legs.

According to the memo, the hand bruising was benign and linked to frequent handshaking while taking aspirin for cardiovascular prevention. It also noted slight lower-leg swelling, but said the condition had improved compared to last year.

Trump had earlier announced on Truth Social that the medical examination went “perfectly,” saying everything checked out well after his visit to Walter Reed.

The report comes weeks before Trump turns 80, making his health a major political issue as scrutiny grows over the age and fitness of America’s top political leaders.

It also comes at a time when questions over presidential health disclosures have returned to the centre of U.S. politics, following renewed debate over former President Joe Biden’s fitness while in office.

Although the White House insists Trump remains physically and mentally capable of carrying out his duties, the President’s bruising, swollen ankles and previous hospital visits have kept public attention fixed on his health.

The latest memo said Trump’s neurological examination showed normal mental status and that preventive counselling had been provided, including advice on diet, physical activity, aspirin use and weight control.
