Flamingos secure final qualifying round spot after crushing Guinea in Ikenne

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, defeated Guinea 6-0 in the second leg of their 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier on Sunday in Ikenne.

The victory gave the Flamingos an emphatic 11-0 aggregate win over the two-legged tie and secured their place in the final qualifying round.

Oluwakemi Adegbuyi opened the scoring in the ninth minute before captain Harmony Chidi doubled Nigeria’s lead in the 21st minute. Just two minutes later, Queen Joseph made it 3-0.

Adegbuyi grabbed her second goal of the match shortly before the half-hour mark, while Chidi also completed her brace in the 34th minute after being set up by Adegbuyi.

The Flamingos continued to dominate after the break and added one more goal through Precious Oscar in the second half to complete a comfortable 6-0 victory.

The result extends Nigeria’s impressive run in the qualifiers as the team moves one step closer to securing a place at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup
