World record holder Tobi Amusan says she was very happy with her performance at the Rabat Diamond League in Morocco, where she won the women’s 100m hurdles and set a new meeting record.

The Nigerian athlete finished first in 12.28 seconds, matching her season’s best time and earning her first Diamond League victory of the season.

Amusan finished ahead of Devynne Charlton, who came second in 12.40 seconds, while Nadine Visser placed third in 12.47 seconds.

Her winning time of 12.28 seconds is the joint third-fastest of her career. Her personal best and world record remains 12.12 seconds, which she set at the 2022 World Championships in Oregon.

Speaking after the race, Amusan said she was pleased with her performance and felt she ran close to her best.

“I am really pleased with the result. I felt I executed the race close to the best of my ability. Winning was my main goal, and setting a meeting record was an added bonus.”

She also praised the atmosphere in Rabat, describing the crowd as energetic and supportive.

Amusan said her focus now is to stay healthy and continue performing well in upcoming competitions.

The 28-year-old began the season after winning her fourth consecutive African title and has shown steady improvement with each race. She will be aiming to reclaim the Diamond League title, which she previously won in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
