2027: Tinubu will defeat Atiku, Obi, Makinde even if they join forces – Jibrin
Quick Read
"I used to say something, even if they come together, the President will defeat them, not to talk about when they've split. The President will win this election, I tell you that," he stated.
A four-time member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has predicted victory for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, insisting that the opposition has already lost the battle to unseat the ruling party.
Jibrin spoke on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Wednesday while assessing the political landscape ahead of the next general election.
According to him, the current realities and political dynamics favour Tinubu, regardless of the opposition’s strategy or choice of candidate.
The lawmaker argued that even a coalition involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde would be unable to stop Tinubu’s re-election bid.
He also maintained that the opposition’s internal divisions have further strengthened the President’s chances ahead of the polls.
“I will say on a general note, on a general scale, and with the reality on ground and all of the political dynamics that we can see, no matter how you analyse it, whether with one presidential candidate you did not imagine, whether with another candidate from Ibadan emerging, however you look at it, the opposition lost it already,” he said.
Jibrin added that the opposition would still struggle against Tinubu even if its major figures united under a common platform.
“I used to say something, even if they come together, the President will defeat them, not to talk about when they’ve split. The President will win this election, I tell you that,” he stated.
His comments come amid growing discussions over possible opposition alliances and coalition talks ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
