Police link suspects arrested in Ogun to kidnapping, murder of two victims in Edo

Police have said two suspects recently apprehended in Atiba area of Ijebu Ode, Ogun State were linked to a kidnapping and murder case in Okada community of Edo State.
The suspects were arrested some days ago by operatives of Nigeria Forest Security Service and handed over to the Ogun state police command.
They were allegedly caught with large amount of cash.
However, spokesperson for Ogun Police Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said in a statement on Saturday that intelligence-driven inquiries conducted by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command identified the suspects identified as Gafaru Adamu and Muhammed Sanni.
He said the two suspects were discovered to be members of a seven-man kidnapping syndicate wanted in connection with an ongoing investigation into a kidnapping and murder case reported in the Okada area of Edo State.
The Ogun Police Command spokesperson further confirmed that one pair of Police camouflage uniform and three mobile phones were recovered from the suspects during the investigations.
“The exhibits have been properly documented and taken into custody to aid further investigation”
Babaseyi said since the alleged offences committed by the two suspects occurred outside Ogun State, they will be transferred alongside exhibits recovered from them, to the Edo State Police Command for further investigation and other necessary legal processes.
He quoted the Ogun Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni as commending the professionalism, diligence, and intelligence-gathering capabilities of the operatives whose swift actions led to the identification of the suspects and the recovery of critical exhibits.
“The CP reiterates that the Command remains resolute in its determination to prevent criminal elements from using Ogun State as a hideout or transit point for unlawful activities.
“He further assures residents that the Command will continue to deploy intelligence-led strategies, proactive policing measures, and strategic inter-state collaboration to strengthen public safety and security across the state.
