Yaya Touré Begins First Head Coach Job at Slovan Bratislava
Manchester City legend Yaya Touré has taken his first major step as a head coach after being appointed manager of Slovakian club Slovan Bratislava on a three-year deal.

The 43-year-old former midfielder, who also played for Barcelona and Ivory Coast, is moving into full-time management after working as an assistant coach in several clubs and national teams.

A New Start in Management

Touré replaces Vladimír Weiss, who left the club to take charge of the Slovak national team. Slovan Bratislava is the most successful club in Slovakia, and Touré now faces the task of keeping them at the top of their league and performing well in Europe.

He said he is excited about the job and wants to build a team that plays strong, attacking football. According to him, his goal is to control matches and entertain fans while winning games.

Inspired by European Football
Touré said he became more interested in the club after watching them play against Manchester City in the Champions League. That match helped convince him that Slovan was the right place for his first head coach role.
He also said he is ready for the challenge of leading his own project after many years working under experienced managers like Roberto Mancini.

Coaching Journey So Far

Before this appointment, Touré worked as an assistant coach at clubs such as Olimpik Donetsk, Akhmat Grozny, and Standard Liège. He also coached at Tottenham Hotspur’s academy and worked with the Saudi Arabia national team.
These roles helped him gain experience before taking on his first top job.

Playing Career Background

As a player, Touré had a successful career, winning three Premier League titles with Manchester City, as well as domestic cup trophies. He also played over 70 matches in the UEFA Champions League.

His experience at the highest level is expected to help him in his new role.
