Suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists have reportedly attacked Kautikari village in the Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, setting fire to several schools in the community.
The affected schools include both primary and secondary institutions. The attackers are said to have invaded the village and deliberately torched school buildings, causing serious damage to educational facilities in the area.
This latest attack comes only a few weeks after pupils from Mussa Primary and Junior Secondary School in nearby Askira-Uba were abducted and held for almost a month before they were eventually released. The repeated incidents have further raised fear and concern among residents about the worsening security situation in the region.
Security sources said the attackers stormed the village at about 7pm on Saturday. The timing of the attack caused panic, as many residents were already settling down for the evening. On noticing the presence of armed men, villagers quickly fled their homes and ran into nearby bushes and surrounding areas to save their lives.
