Quick Read
The latest enforcement is part of the Lagos State Government’s broader efforts to improve environmental standards and public safety across the state.
The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has closed several hotels, churches, lounges, and other businesses across the state for causing noise pollution and breaking environmental regulations.
The enforcement operation was carried out on Monday, June 15, 2026, by LASEPA in collaboration with the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI). The exercise followed reports of ongoing noise pollution and other environmental violations.
According to LASEPA, the action was directed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, as part of efforts to protect residents from environmental disturbances and ensure compliance with state laws.
The affected establishments were accused of offences such as excessive noise, air pollution, obstructing government officials from carrying out their duties, and failing to obey regulatory directives.
Among the businesses sealed were Golden Click Hotel in Baruwa, 14:02 Lounge & Bar in Ipaja, and Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Surulere, all for noise pollution. Max Lounge in Surulere was shut down for both noise and air pollution.
PetroSafe Gas Station on Ijesha Road was also sealed for allegedly obstructing officials and failing to comply with environmental regulations.
Other establishments affected include Kilo Hotel, The Hotel Macs, Hotel Bel Am, Fecomillion Hotel, Serena Hotel and Suites, CitiLounge, and Gariot.
LASEPA said the affected businesses had received several warnings but failed to comply with environmental regulations.
Speaking on the operation, LASEPA General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, said environmental compliance is a shared responsibility and urged both individuals and businesses to follow environmental laws.
He added that the agency would continue enforcing regulations to reduce pollution and create a cleaner, healthier, and safer environment for Lagos residents.
The latest enforcement is part of the Lagos State Government’s broader efforts to improve environmental standards and public safety across the state.
Earlier in May 2026, the government also sealed several properties in Lekki and Ikeja for failing to meet elevator safety requirements.
