Haiti and Türkiye have crashed out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after suffering defeats in their second group matches on Friday.
Haiti’s hopes were ended in Philadelphia, United States, after five-time champions Brazil cruised to a 3-0 victory in their Group C encounter.
Matheus Cunha opened the scoring for Brazil from close range after Vinicius Jr’s effort was parried into his path.
Cunha doubled Brazil’s advantage with a powerful strike from inside the box before Vinicius Jr added the third goal deep into first-half stoppage time.
The defeat left Haiti bottom of Group C with no point from two matches and a goal difference of minus four.
Their final group match against Morocco on June 24 will now be a dead rubber, with the Caribbean side already eliminated from the tournament.
Brazil, meanwhile, moved to the top of Group C on goal difference ahead of Morocco.
In Group D, Türkiye also bowed out after a 1-0 defeat to Paraguay at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium.
Matias Galarza scored the decisive goal after just 64 seconds, making it the fastest goal of the 2026 World Cup so far.
Paraguay were later reduced to 10 men in stoppage time, but Türkiye failed to take advantage and could not find an equaliser.
The result confirmed Türkiye’s elimination after two defeats from two matches.
Paraguay, who lost their opening match to the United States, kept their slim hopes of reaching the last 32 alive ahead of their final group game against Australia.
Haiti and Türkiye now join the list of early casualties at the tournament, with both nations eliminated with one group match still to play.
Haiti had returned to the World Cup for the first time since 1974, while Türkiye’s campaign ended earlier than expected despite entering the tournament with high hopes.
