Ekiti Polls: Firm reveals how data, technology powered Oyebanji’s re-election victory

“Our approach is centred on understanding the mindset of the electorate and helping campaign teams make informed, data-driven decisions. This enables resources to be deployed more effectively and improves voter engagement,” Yakubu said.
Political consulting and campaign management firm, Monan Innovation, has disclosed how the strategic deployment of data analytics, voter research and technology-driven campaign tools contributed to Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s resounding victory in the recently concluded Ekiti State governorship election.
The firm said the success of the campaign underscored the growing influence of data-driven political strategies in Nigeria’s evolving electoral landscape, where technology and grassroots mobilisation are increasingly being combined to enhance voter engagement and campaign efficiency.
Speaking on the company’s role in the election, the Chief Executive Officer of Monan Innovation, Mrs Moji Yakubu, said the firm was engaged by the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign organisation to strengthen voter outreach, intelligence gathering and campaign logistics across the state.
According to Yakubu, Monan Innovation commenced operations several months before the election, deploying personnel across all 16 local government areas of Ekiti State to conduct extensive voter research, gather field intelligence and establish direct communication channels with registered voters.
She explained that the exercise generated critical insights into voter demographics, public sentiment and community-specific concerns, enabling the campaign team to tailor its messaging and interventions to the unique needs of different communities.
“Our approach is centred on understanding the mindset of the electorate and helping campaign teams make informed, data-driven decisions. This enables resources to be deployed more effectively and improves voter engagement,” Yakubu said.
She noted that the firm’s methodology integrates pre-campaign research, campaign monitoring and post-election analysis, ensuring that strategic decisions are guided by evidence rather than assumptions.
According to her, the research framework was designed to identify voter trends, assess public perception and determine the most effective communication channels for engaging different segments of the electorate.
Yakubu added that the adoption of technology and analytics provided deeper insights into voter behaviour and community expectations, helping to strengthen communication between the campaign and the electorate.
The firm’s contribution also earned commendation from Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, who described Monan Innovation as a team of innovative young professionals leveraging technology to transform modern political campaigns.
Bamidele said the firm’s assignment included identifying registered voters and establishing direct engagement with them at a stage when the campaign had moved beyond conventional rallies and mass gatherings.
According to him, the voter-mapping initiative enabled the APC campaign to engage verified voters more effectively and deepen its connection with communities across the state.
Beyond voter engagement and intelligence gathering, Monan Innovation introduced technology-driven campaign infrastructure that became one of the defining features of Governor Oyebanji’s statewide campaign.
Among the innovations deployed were automatic remote-controlled mobile stage trucks equipped with giant LED screens. The mobile platforms allowed campaign activities to be taken directly to communities while eliminating many of the logistical challenges associated with conventional rally setups.
Yakubu explained that the trucks could transform into fully functional campaign stages within minutes and quickly return to mobile units after events, allowing campaign teams to move seamlessly between locations.
The mobile stage units accompanied Governor Oyebanji throughout his statewide campaign tours and were used for speeches, voter engagement, public sensitisation and the projection of campaign achievements and policy messages.
The technology was also deployed during the APC mega rally in Ado-Ekiti, attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima and other top leaders of the ruling party.
According to Yakubu, the LED-equipped platforms significantly enhanced voter engagement by improving visibility and enabling real-time dissemination of campaign messages.
She maintained that the combination of data-driven voter management, strategic communication, grassroots mobilisation and innovative campaign infrastructure played a pivotal role in strengthening the APC’s outreach efforts across Ekiti State.
With Governor Oyebanji securing a decisive mandate at the polls, political observers say the election has further highlighted the increasing role of research, technology and data analytics in modern political campaigns as parties seek more effective ways of understanding voter behaviour and connecting with the electorate.
