Ghanaian traditional priest Nana Kwaku Bonsam has claimed he will place a spiritual curse on England captain Harry Kane
A Ghanaian spiritual healer, Nana Kwaku Bonsam, has claimed he is working spiritually against England captain Harry Kane ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Group L encounter between England and Ghana.
The unusual claim has added intrigue to the buildup of the highly anticipated fixture, with Bonsam insisting that his spiritual powers could prevent the Bayern Munich striker from performing at his best during the match.
England began their World Cup campaign on a strong note, with Kane scoring twice in their opening victory under head coach Thomas Tuchel. The striker has quickly emerged as one of the standout players of the tournament.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Bonsam said he was using spiritual means to stop Kane from influencing the game.
“I am working on Harry Kane. I know what I can do and how to stop him. I do not want a serious injury, only to prevent him from playing against my country,” he reportedly said.
The spiritual healer, popularly known as the “Wednesday Devil,” attracted global attention during the 2014 FIFA World Cup when he claimed responsibility for the knee problems that affected Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo before a match against Ghana.
Bonsam maintains that his powers originate from the Kofi Oo Kofi shrine and describes himself as one of Africa’s most authentic spiritual leaders. However, there is no scientific evidence to support his claims.
Despite the comments generating widespread attention online, there have been no reports suggesting that Kane is facing any fitness concerns ahead of the match.
England and Ghana are set to meet in what is expected to be a crucial encounter as both sides continue their quest for a place in the knockout stages of the tournament.
