The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday presented Certificates of Return to candidates who won the bye-elections held on June 20, 2026, in Rivers, Enugu, Nasarawa, Ondo, and Kano states.

The certificates were presented on behalf of the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, by the Supervising National Commissioner for Rivers State, Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu.

Speaking during the presentation, Agbamuche-Mbu congratulated the winners and urged them to serve their constituents faithfully. She said their most important responsibility is to represent the people and work for their interests.

According to INEC, Certificates of Return will also be presented to winners of the Zuru State Constituency election in Kebbi State and the recently concluded governorship election in Ekiti State.

National Commissioners representing the affected constituencies took turns to hand over the certificates to the successful candidates, officially confirming them as the duly elected winners of their respective elections.

The presentation of the Certificates of Return marks the completion of the electoral process for the affected constituencies and enables the elected officials to formally assume their positions and begin serving the people who voted for them. INEC reiterated its commitment to conducting credible elections and strengthening Nigeria’s democratic process.

The commission also expressed appreciation to voters, election officials, security agencies, and other stakeholders whose contributions helped ensure the successful conduct of the bye-elections across the affected states.
