Businessman and philanthropist, Prince Olatunji Olusoji, popularly known as Asiwaju, has called for greater investment in young people, describing the youth population as the foundation upon which the future and prosperity of every society depend.

Olusoji made the remarks while speaking on his commitment to education, empowerment, and mentorship initiatives aimed at supporting young people across Kogi State.

According to him, meaningful and sustainable development can only be achieved when governments, institutions, and individuals deliberately create opportunities that enable youths to realise their potential and contribute positively to their communities.

“Youths are the backbone of every society. If we fail to invest in them today through education, empowerment and mentorship, then we are simply postponing bigger problems for tomorrow,” he said.

His comments come amid growing concerns over unemployment, economic hardship, and limited opportunities confronting many young Nigerians, particularly those in rural communities.

Over the years, Olusoji has championed several youth-focused initiatives, including scholarship schemes, educational support programmes, and empowerment projects designed to improve opportunities for students and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Beneficiaries of some of the interventions say the programmes have provided much-needed support, enabling many young people to further their education and pursue career and business ambitions.

Community leaders and stakeholders have also commended his engagement with youths, noting that his initiatives have encouraged conversations around self-development, entrepreneurship, and community service, especially in Kogi West and neighbouring communities.

Observers believe such interventions have become increasingly important as many young Nigerians continue to seek mentorship, direction, and practical support to navigate prevailing economic and social challenges.

Beyond his philanthropic activities, many youths have identified with Olusoji’s message of hard work, discipline, and enterprise, citing his business achievements as an example of what can be accomplished through persistence and strategic planning.

Traditional rulers and community leaders have similarly stressed the importance of investing in young people, maintaining that youth inclusion and development remain essential to the growth and stability of any society.

Speaking further, Olusoji said leadership should not be measured solely by personal success but by the number of opportunities created for others to thrive.

“True leadership is not just about what you achieve for yourself; it is about how many lives you impact and how many opportunities you create for others to grow and succeed,” he said.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the younger generation, noting that empowering youths remains one of the most effective ways to build stronger communities and secure a better future.

“My commitment to young people remains unwavering because when you empower the next generation, you are investing in the future of society itself,” Olusoji added. “That is how stronger communities and lasting development are built.”
