“That does not mean I agree with all his ways. What I like about him is this: he tells the truth. He is the best politician I have ever met,” Adeboye said.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has explained why he admires United States President Donald Trump.

Adeboye described Trump as a politician who keeps his word and acts on his promises.

The cleric spoke at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala organised by the Save Nigeria Group in Washington on June 23.

“Thank God for Trump,” Adeboye said.

The RCCG leader said he admired Trump, not because he agreed with all his ways, but because he considered him direct and decisive.

According to him, Trump is the best politician he has ever met.

“I have never met Trump, but I have followed him, and I like him.

“That does not mean I agree with all his ways. What I like about him is this: he tells the truth. He is the best politician I have ever met,” Adeboye said.

Adeboye recalled that he had spoken publicly in November last year after Trump reportedly warned that he could bomb Nigeria over the country’s security crisis.

He said he had to call on the Nigerian government to act quickly because military action, no matter how precise, could affect innocent people.

“There is something wonderful about bombing. The only problem with it is that no matter how accurate your bomb may be, some innocent people will suffer,” he said.

Adeboye said he also shared his view of Trump with a United States ambassador who visited him at home.

According to him, when the envoy asked what he thought about Trump, he replied that he liked him because he was doing what he promised to do.

“To be a good politician, you must be able to say two things from the same mouth. That is what makes you a professional politician,” he said.

The cleric added that Trump stood out because he usually carried out his plans.

“When he says, ‘I want to do this,’ you had better get ready. Many times, he would even have done what he was going to do before telling you,” Adeboye said.

Adeboye also said he had held similar conversations with President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who is also a pastor of the RCCG.

He said he advised Tinubu to contact Trump and assure him that Nigeria was serious about the fight against terrorism.
