The four-time Grand Slam champion, in collaboration with Tokyo-based designer Hana Yagi, delivered two breathtaking, heritage-packed walk-on ensembles that became the most talked-about moments of the tournament’s opening week.

For her opening-round match against Elsa Jacquemot, Osaka stunned the crowd by walking out in a majestic, floor-length gown titled “Evolving Ceremony”. The garment was crafted using seven different upcycled textiles. The outer fabric featured pearl-white embroidery depicting cranes (symbols of longevity) and climbing cherry blossoms. She also tied her hair into a high bun decorated with a traditional kanzashi floral hairpin and finished the look with luxury pearl jewelry from Mikimoto.

While critics question regards her elaborate fits as a distraction, Osaka insists that designing these kits is an essential form of self-expression.
