The Allied Peoples' Movement (APM) candidate for Oyo Central Senatorial District, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has pledged support for the construction of a community police station in Oluyole Local Government Area

The Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) candidate for Oyo Central Senatorial District, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has pledged support for the construction of a community police station in Oluyole Local Government Area, saying improved security is critical to economic growth, investment and peaceful coexistence.

Ajadi made the commitment during an inspection of the project alongside the Officer-in-Charge of Works, CSP Adeniji Opeyemi, who represented the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga. The visit followed an invitation by the member representing Oluyole Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Waheed Akintayo.

Speaking during the inspection, Ajadi said the proposed police station would strengthen security across the Muslim and Mosfala communities and neighbouring areas, creating a safer environment for residents and businesses.

“Security is the bedrock of every meaningful development. When communities are secure, businesses flourish, investors gain confidence, and people can go about their daily activities without fear. That is why I am committed to supporting the construction of this police station,” he said.

Ajadi noted that the facility would help reduce criminal activities and improve public confidence in the affected communities.

“This police station will serve as a strong warning to criminal elements operating within the Muslim and Mosfala communities and adjoining areas. A stronger law enforcement presence will help promote peace and security for our people,” he stated.

He added that better security could encourage financial institutions and other businesses to establish operations in the area.

“Many investors and financial institutions consider security before making investment decisions. With a standard police station in this axis, we expect more enterprises and economic activities to come into these communities, creating jobs and boosting the local economy,” Ajadi said.

The project was initiated through the efforts of community members and Hon. Waheed Akintayo. During the inspection, Ajadi promised to support the completion of the facility by replacing the roofing, completing the plastering, flooring, tiling, fencing and painting, as well as providing necessary equipment.

He also expressed optimism that the project would be completed before the 2027 general elections.

Earlier, Akintayo described the inspection as another step towards strengthening security infrastructure in Oluyole through collaboration with key stakeholders.

He commended Ajadi for supporting the project despite not occupying an elective position, saying the gesture reflected a commitment to community development.

“It is encouraging to see public-spirited individuals take an interest in projects that directly impact the lives of the people. This visit demonstrates a shared commitment to improving security and public safety within our communities,” Akintayo said.

The lawmaker added that the police station would improve response times, support community policing efforts and contribute to the protection of lives and property across the constituency once completed.

Oluyole Local Government Area is one of the eleven councils that make up Oyo Central Senatorial District, which Ajadi is seeking to represent in the Senate. Residents and stakeholders expressed optimism that the collaboration among community leaders, the police and political stakeholders would facilitate the timely completion of the project and strengthen security in the area.
