Former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has offered to cover the relocation costs of a first-class Mathematics graduate of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Blessing Oluwafikayo Adisa, after she appealed for financial support to enable her take up a fully funded Master’s scholarship in Italy.

Saraki made the announcement on Saturday in a post on his X handle after coming across Adisa’s appeal, describing her academic achievements as a testament to the immense potential of young Nigerians.

Adisa, who graduated with a First Class in Mathematics with a CGPA of 4.76/5.0 from UNILORIN, had disclosed that she had secured a fully funded Master’s scholarship in Mathematics at the University of Calabria, Italy, but required financial assistance to cover the cost of relocating.

Responding to her appeal, Saraki commended her outstanding academic performance and assured her that he would fund the remaining expenses required for her relocation.

“Dear Blessing, I just came across your tweet, and it truly inspired me.

“To graduate with a First Class in Mathematics from UNILORIN and then earn a fully funded Master’s admission in Italy is an extraordinary achievement. You have demonstrated excellence and the promise that exists in so many young Nigerians.

“No young person who has worked this hard should have such an opportunity limited by the cost of getting there. It would be my privilege to support your journey by covering what is left in the cost of your relocation,” Saraki wrote.

The former Kwara State governor also directed a member of his office, identified as @nancy_i_i, to immediately establish contact with the beneficiary to facilitate the support.

“@nancy_i_i from my office will reach out to you today. Congratulations once again. Go, excel, and continue to make Nigeria proud,” he added.

Saraki’s intervention has drawn widespread praise on social media, with many Nigerians describing the gesture as a timely investment in education and youth development.
