It was a disappointing end to the season for Ikorodu City. The Lagos club not only lost the cup final but had also missed the chance to qualify for continental football on the final day of the Nigeria Premier Football League season.
El-Kanemi Warriors defeated Ikorodu City 1-0 to win the 2026 President Federation Cup final in Asaba on Saturday.
The only goal of the match came in the 13th minute when Muktar Ismail scored from a penalty kick.
The victory gave the Maiduguri-based club their second President Federation Cup title in three years. It was also the fourth time El-Kanemi Warriors have won Nigeria’s oldest football competition.
With the triumph, El-Kanemi Warriors secured a place in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup, where they will represent Nigeria alongside Shooting Stars.
