PDP Assembly candidate Adeoye says an Adebutu administration will prioritise stable electricity to drive economic growth and industrial development in Ogun State.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Abeokuta South State Constituency II in the 2027 general election, Hon. Adeoye Adewale Adeniran, popularly known as A3, says an administration led by the party’s governorship candidate, Dr. Oladipupo Adebutu, will prioritise stable electricity supply.
He said reliable power would drive economic growth, accelerate industrial development and improve the standard of living of the people of Ogun State.
Adeoye made the declaration while addressing party members and supporters in Abeokuta, where he urged them to remain focused on issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections.
He described inadequate electricity supply as one of Ogun State’s greatest developmental challenges, stressing that sustainable economic growth cannot be achieved without reliable power.
“Our campaign must remain focused on issues that matter to the people. We must not descend into abusive politics or exchange insults with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Elections should be about ideas, competence and practical solutions. As the saying goes, no one can defeat a pig in its natural habitat by joining it in the mud,” he said.
Speaking on the PDP’s development agenda, Adeoye said improving electricity supply would be one of the defining priorities of an Adebutu administration.
He noted that Adebutu’s distribution of transformers across communities in Ogun State reflected a broader plan to strengthen electricity infrastructure rather than mere philanthropy.
“It is not just about donating transformers; it is about strengthening electricity distribution infrastructure and ensuring that more communities have access to reliable power.
“When I listen to him explain his vision for Ogun State, I see genuine passion and commitment. His determination to improve the lives of our people and build a modern, prosperous state is evident. He understands that without electricity, businesses cannot thrive, industries cannot expand and young people cannot fully realise their potential,” Adeoye said.
He noted that recent reforms in Nigeria’s electricity sector had created fresh opportunities for states to participate more actively in electricity generation, distribution and regulation through partnerships with private investors, embedded generation and renewable energy projects.
According to him, Ogun State is strategically positioned to take advantage of the reforms because of its industrial base and geographical advantage.
“The PDP government had done it before with the mini-power plant at Oke-Mosan and we saw the impact. I have no doubt that an Adebutu administration will explore every lawful opportunity to improve electricity supply for our people. Stable electricity is not a luxury; it is the foundation of economic development,” he added.
Adeoye said improved electricity would reduce operating costs for small businesses, manufacturers and artisans currently burdened by high diesel and petrol expenses used to power generators.
He listed welders, hairdressers, tailors, printers, ICT operators and frozen food sellers among businesses that would benefit from improved electricity, adding that reliable power would lower production costs, boost profitability, attract investment and create employment opportunities for young people.
He also said stable electricity would enhance healthcare delivery, digital learning in schools and agro-processing, thereby strengthening critical sectors of the state’s economy.
Maintaining that the PDP was offering practical solutions rather than empty promises, Adeoye expressed confidence that Adebutu possessed the vision and capacity to transform Ogun into a leading investment and industrial destination through strategic infrastructure development.
He urged the people of Ogun State to support leaders with workable ideas capable of creating jobs, growing industries and improving the quality of life through reliable electricity.
