PFIPC Scandal: Adeyemi absent from court over alleged forgery case
Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, who describes himself as the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), did not appear in court on Tuesday for his scheduled arraignment over allegations of certificate forgery.
Adeyemi is expected to take his plea before Justice Mohammed Umar on an eight-count charge involving alleged forgery, fraud and impersonation.
Although the case was listed on the court’s schedule, Adeyemi was not present when proceedings were expected to begin.
The charges against him and two other defendants were filed on November 27, 2025, by police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki.
Several witnesses are expected to testify in the case, including the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, Paul Emmanuel, Jeremiah Imoukhede and Ituah Sylvester. Other witnesses include civil servants from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Akimbo Shola and Adamu Balongu, as well as a deputy superintendent of police.
Adeyemi’s whereabouts are currently unknown. However, during an interview on Channels Television on Monday, he said he had stayed away from public view because of threats to his life.
He denied claims that he was hiding from law enforcement agencies to avoid investigation into the alleged PFIPC fraud case.
Adeyemi also repeated his allegation that he paid N400 million through an intermediary to Femi Gbajabiamila to secure his appointment as Director-General of the agency.
According to him, the people who provided the N400 million loan have reported him to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the money.
