According to Aiyenigba, Soyinka has continued to inspire Nigerians and give them hope during difficult times.

The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has congratulated Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, on his 92nd birthday.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Adebayo described Soyinka as a living legend whose life reflects courage, integrity and a strong commitment to justice.

He said Soyinka’s contributions to literature, democracy and human rights have inspired many people in Nigeria, Africa and across the world.

Speaking on behalf of his family, friends, supporters and the SDP, Adebayo praised the celebrated writer for his lifelong dedication to truth and freedom.

“I warmly congratulate Professor Wole Soyinka on his 92nd birthday. Your life remains a shining example of courage, intelligence, integrity and commitment to justice,” he said.

Adebayo noted that Soyinka, who became Africa’s first Nobel Prize winner in Literature, has inspired generations through his books, activism and defence of democracy, freedom and human dignity.

He added that the literary icon has always stood for justice and has never been afraid to speak against wrongdoing.

“For many years, you have spoken truth to power and reminded leaders and citizens that building a nation requires courage, sacrifice, accountability and strong moral values,” Adebayo stated.

He also said Soyinka’s influence goes beyond Nigeria and Africa, leaving a lasting impact on world literature, democracy and human rights.

Adebayo prayed for good health, strength and many more years for Soyinka, expressing hope that he would continue to contribute to Nigeria and humanity.

Also celebrating the Nobel Laureate, SDP National Publicity Secretary Rufus Aiyenigba described Soyinka as a moral guide whose commitment to truth has remained strong despite the country’s challenges.

According to Aiyenigba, Soyinka has continued to inspire Nigerians and give them hope during difficult times.

He said Soyinka is respected both in Nigeria and internationally for always standing on the side of truth and justice.

Aiyenigba added that the playwright and activist has spent his adult life helping to guide society through his words, ideas and actions.

The SDP also highlighted its relationship with Soyinka through its National Secretary, Dr Olu Agunloye, whom the party described as one of the Nobel Laureate’s protégés.

Born on July 13, 1934, Wole Soyinka became the first African to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1986.

He is widely known for his plays, novels, poems and essays, as well as his advocacy for democracy, human rights and good governance. Soyinka remains one of Nigeria’s most respected public intellectuals.
